Data Mining

Centuries ago the extractive industry has focused on mining the natural resources. Minerals had been the primary resources extracted as raw materials used to process the gadgets that are currently existing. The extractive industry of today has utilized the technology to enriched various individuals and organizations. as they are able to source out relevant and useful information.

What is Data Mining?

The extraction of hidden predictive information from large databases is data mining. Tools are devices that is useful in discovering customer behaviors, following trends and predicting future activities. Data mining device has been described as a powerful new technology that can guide companies to make proactive and knowledge-driven decisions.

I have been using my yahoo mail since  1994 and have been receiving mails, invitations and information about companies. In the previous years, I appreciated these emails due to information I got and I am learning new things. As I kept receiving these mails, I learned later that I have been receiving spam mail due to my internet activities. I have been one of the million internet users who have been trailed and studied by technology data- gathering tools. Data mining tools determine which clients are most likely to respond to the promotional mailing, and why?"
With the existing software and hardware platforms available, data mining techniques can be implemented to enhance the value of existing information resources. Integration with new products and systems are available  on-line.

Data mining has many purposes and can be used for both positive and malicious gain. More organizations are coming to discover the benefits of merging data mining techniques to form hybrid models. These powerful combinations often result in applications with superior performance. By integrating the key features of different methods into single hybrid solutions, organizations usually can overcome the limitations of individual strategy systems (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-different-types-of-data-mining-techniques.htm).
